We could all use a fresh start in 2021 considering how hectic and unpredictable 2020 has proven to be. While it’s a year we all want to move on from, it’s still important to take a moment to self-reflect. When you do, you’re taking the first step towards making the new year better!
Our dentists at Smile More Dentistry want to take a brief moment to encourage patients to take a closer look at their dental insurance benefits. Every year, your benefits reset, making them usable on your most important dental treatments. Speaking of the new year, it’s also a perfect way to establish a new year resolution for yourself moving forward!
This month, we’d like to help patients get started on the process of not only reflecting, but building a set of resolutions dedicated to prioritizing oral health! We should always practice self-reflection throughout the year, but why not try today now that we have a new year ahead of us? Smile More Dentistry is your partner in helping you achieve positive oral health, saving money on dental care, and giving you something worth celebrating once 2022 arrives!
If you bring someone in who’s never been in our office before, both will receive 2-for-1 in-office teeth whitening with 1 take home kit!

Meet Dr. Josie Park!
We are excited to announce our recent addition to the Smile More Dentistry team, Dr. Josie Park. Dr. Park brings an awesome energy and enthusiasm to the practice. She shares that her favorite part of the jobs is building relationships with her patients, ensuring they are happy with their smile and feel better after treatment.
Dr. Park’s background is extensive. She did her undergraduate degree with University of California at Berkeley and attended dental school with New York University’s School of Dentistry. She’s trained in root canal therapy, oral surgery, periodontal therapy and is certified as an Invisalign provider. When she’s not working, she enjoys serving her community and in fact, won a community service and civic engagement award in dental school for the amount of time she committed. She also enjoys doing a jigsaw puzzle or playing a round of golf in her downtime alongside her husband and their sweet Schnoodle, Boo. We cannot be more excited to have a stellar dentist and community partner join our team. Welcome, Dr. Josie Park!
Take a Look at Your 2020 Oral Care Habits
As you start thinking about your resolutions for 2021, consider what your current oral health looked like in the previous year. It’s worth asking yourself:
✔ Did I complete my exams and cleanings last year?
✔ Did I need dental work completed (and did I get it done?)
✔ Was my smile free of cavities, gum disease, and infections?
✔ Has my dentist confirmed if my at-home care is working?
✔ Did I use (and maximize) my dental insurance?
Answering these questions can make establishing your oral health resolutions easier and help you know what to prioritize moving forward, especially within the context of using your insurance benefits. Don’t feel guilty if you didn’t necessarily meet all of them. Instead, consider it an opportunity to start planning for the future!
Take Note of Your Oral Health Accomplishments
2020 was a year most of us would like to forget, but you should still look back at the accomplishments you did make and use them as a jumping off point of what you’d like to do next. For example, many patients note that they had more time to practice their at-home oral care. If it’s been perfected and personalized to your needs, you can begin focusing on:
✔ Setting up your biannual cleanings and exams
✔ Changing your diet to be more mouth-friendly
✔ Getting dental work out of the way that you didn’t in 2020
✔ Making the most of your dental insurance benefits
Not sure what your oral care resolution should be in 2021? Our dentists are happy to provide you with additional guidance.
Start Preparing for 2021 and Beyond
You may not think a dental checkup is a huge accomplishment in 2021, but our dentists beg to differ. When you complete just two annual checkups a year, you can:
✔ Catch underlying dental issues early (and get the treatment you need)
✔ Get your deductible paid and start receiving coverage
✔ Lock in the best time and day for you and your family’s appointments
✔ Confirm the most pressing oral health priorities to focus on
Our dentists and team will help you achieve positive oral health however possible, no matter how difficult the year becomes. From all of us at Smile More Dentistry, we look forward to hearing from you in the near future and helping you maximize your dental benefits in 2021!
