About Our Amazing Dentists Near Northvale
Dr. Mariliza LaCap
For Dr. LaCap, the mission behind opening Smile More Dentistry was simple: to create a warm and friendly practice that local families could trust. She genuinely loves helping others on a daily basis and having the opportunity to give back to her community – those are her two favorite aspects of being a dentist near Northvale!
Dr. LaCap’s career in dentistry began at New York University. She then earned her dental doctorate from the Columbia University School of Dental & Oral Surgery (graduating in the top 10% of her class too!). However, her pursuit of education didn’t stop there. Since completing her residency at Englewood Hospital, she has completed advanced training in a wide range of specialties, from Invisalign and periodontal therapy to dental implants and full-face orthodontics. If this wasn’t impressive enough, she’s also been recognized by the American Association of Orthodontics, the Northeastern Society of Periodontists, and several other notable organizations.
Dr. Darren Tong
Dr. Tong isn’t just a general dentist; he is a certified pediatric dentist as well! As a result, he has the education, training, and talent to help smiles of all ages thrive.
Like Dr. LaCap, Dr. Tong graduated in the top 10% of his class from the Columbia University School of Dental & Oral Surgery. Today, he has undergone advanced training in dental implants, pediatric dentistry, full mouth reconstruction, and occlusion correction (just a few of many). He is also the recipient of numerous accolades, including the Excellence in Prosthetics Award and the Excellence in Restorative Dentistry Award. To stay abreast of the latest techniques and technologies, he continues to be an active member of professional organizations, like the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Michael Davidson
In addition to earning his master’s degree in Oral Biology from New York University, Dr. Davidson completed his dental doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania. To further advance his skill set, he is currently undergoing an intensive training program on dental implants at NYU. For him, being a dentist is rewarding because it allows him to build impactful relationships with people from all kinds of backgrounds. Plus, crafting gorgeous smiles and rebuilding a person’s confidence isn’t bad either!
Dr. Josie Park
Dr. Park is originally from Daegu, South Korea! It was during a service trip to Nicaragua, however, that she realized she wanted to make a real difference in people’s lives as a dentist. She ended up completing her undergraduate degree in California before attending dental school here in New York. Her commitment and natural talent led to her receiving the Dean’s Student Award for Clinical Achievement in Restorative Dentistry! Today, she is an active member of several notable organizations, including the New York State Dental Association, and she is certified to provide Invisalign.

How Do I Find the Best Place to Get Dental Work Done?
First, you need to identify which factors are most important to you when it comes to dental work. Start by asking yourself the following questions:
- Do I want a dental practice that’s located closer to my home or my office?
- Am I looking for an in-network provider?
- Do I want a professional who offers comprehensive dental services?
- Do I prefer someone who specializes in a particular field of dentistry?
Once you’ve got that figured out, it’ll be easier for you the find an office that meets your criteria. When you find a provider you like, be sure to look through their website and read patient reviews to ensure they’re right for your needs.
How Do I Get Emergency Dental Care?
If you ever find yourself experiencing a dental emergency near Northvale, give us a call right away. We’ll schedule you as soon as possible, likely on the same day as your injury. Waiting to seek treatment for your situation may cause it to worsen, leading to more severe problems that’ll need to be fixed using complex and extensive procedures. It’s worth noting that you should head to your nearest emergency room if you have uncontrollable bleeding, a fracture or dislocated jaw, or another potentially life-threatening symptom.
What Do You Do If You Can’t Afford a Dentist?
Many patients near Northvale are hesitant to get the dental work they need because they want to avoid breaking the bank. However, we’ll do everything we can to make your care as affordable as possible. Not only do we happily welcome dental insurance, but we accept flexible financing and offer an in-house savings plan that will allow you to enjoy the benefits of traditional insurance without the hassle. These options are excellent ways to help you stay within your budget!
What Level of Education Is Required to Be a Dentist?
Those who are interested in becoming a dentist must first complete their bachelor's degree, typically in a major that’s heavy in math and science. Then, they must attend one of the 67 accredited dental schools in the United States, where they’ll undergo three years of classroom and hands-on learning. After earning their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Science (DDS), every dentist must pursue a certain number of continuing education hours each year to maintain licensure. Dentists who wish to specialize in pediatric dentistry, endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, or another specialty must complete several years of additional schooling and training.
